The essay analyses the cultural messages – written and visual – conveyed to her contemporaries by the works of Christine de Pizan, professional writer and public intellectual of the French court. Her Tresaure of the City of Ladies (1405), in particular, carries strong educational implications, because it is the earliest European work on women’s history by a women. These work contributes to read the evolution of the representation of the body, in the light of the “sciences des femmes” of the XVth century. Attention will also be given to its alternative perception on the change of standard in care and physique activities, according to gender, that could be reconsidered and compared with the dominant ideology
